History Ch -1 (Important Personalities)
In this chapter we learn about the conditions of France during the 17th century and how the society was divided into three Estates i.e Clergy, Nobility and Commoners .
During this period Louis XVI of the Bourbon Family was the ruler this was in the 1774. France also helped some American Colonies to gain their independence from The British which made France to fall in a debt of a whopping amount of 2 Billion livres (Currency in France discontinued in 1794). The conditions pf the 3rd Estate was not really good at that time later on after the exploitations by the upper estates the common folks decided that there must come a change i.e a Revolution. (this chapter's full explanation will be uploaded soon). Earlier We have discussed some important dates during the revolution you can find that too on our website. Now Some of the important personalities During The French Revolution:
1. Louis XVI: Louis XVI belonged to The Bourbon Family of kings. He became the king of France at the age of 20 and later was married to Marie Antoinette. He helped some American colonies to gain independence from The British. Due to heavy loss he increased the taxes for 'common folks' . Louis XVI was executed at The Palace of de la concorde on 21 January 1793.
2. Robespierre: Maximilien Robespierre was a former member of The National Assembly of France and other than that he was also a Lawyer. He was the leader of The Jacobins Club. He also led his government and followed very strict rules and regulations. He abolished the Traditonal Madam and Sir and said that all people in The France are now Citizens.
3. Napoleon Bonaparte: Napoleon was born on August 15, 1769. He was a Invader and also a led his Military Coup. Later on he crowned himself as The King of France in 1804. He also introduced measures provided by decimal system and also supported The French Revolution. Later Napoleon was defeated a Waterloo in 1815.
4. Dr. Guillotin: Dr. Joseph Guillotin invented a device used for giving death sentence to the guilty by beheading them. The name of this device was "Guillotin".
5. Roget de L'Isle: He composed the National Anthem of France 'Marseillaise'.
6. Mirabeau & Abbe Sieyes: Both of these people led the National Assembly.
7. Olympe de Gouges: She protested against the rights of man as it excluded women. Soon she was executed in charge of Treason.
